First journal entry of '09. A lot has happened over the last 12 months. Last year was a great year, for many reasons, and is surely one that I will never forget. But with that said, I am really looking forward to what the future holds.
I got some great news earlier this week; I got accepted into the University course that I was hoping for. It was a huge relief when I found out (I was so nervous that I didn't think that I'd get offered a place!). So that means next year I'll be off to the city... I can't wait!yay for the freedom and independence of living away from home... and being 18!
But before then, I'm hoping to get back into doing some more artworks... it feels as though I haven't drawn anything for my own gratification in ages. It's all been either school projects or commissioned portraits. I still have one and a half commissioned portraits to finish at the moment, but I'm hoping to work on some other stuff soon.
It's only about two and a half months until the exhibition opens! One of my artworks was selected for what is called the 'Year 12 Perspectives' exhibition - where they choose artworks by graduating secondary school art students from across the entire state! (only 56 works were selected this year... and mine was one of them!) I was so proud that I got into this exhibition, because it had been a goal of mine for the entirety of last year. Now that I've been selected for the exhibition, I'm eligible to apply for a couple of $5,000 grants - for things like art supplies, training and travel. It would be such a great help if I get awarded the grant, but I think I'll be facing some tough competition!
Anyway, it looks as though it is nearly 2am, so I think it must be time to go and get some sort of sleep...
oh yes, and i almost forgot to wish you all a (very belated!) merry christmas and happy new year!
